Jewelry for Life Campaign with NPO POMA

#jewelryforlife campaign

What is POMA?

Peace of Mind Association (POMA) is a non-profit, global organization that is focused on providing effective mental health support services to traumatized children, women and their families. They have headquarters in the United States, Afghanistan, and Switzerland. They endeavor to provide support to communities living under conflict and adversity to prevent the corrosive effect of trauma on people’s well-being and society overall.

What do they represent?

POMA believes that life quality and well-being depends on maintaining good mental health, and that mental health can already deteriorate in childhood for people who are living with constant adversity. With on-the-ground mental health workers, POMA endeavors to particularly support women and children in communities affected by conflict to prioritize the mental health needs of vulnerable people.

What is the intention of ATOLL in working with and supporting POMA?

ATOLL believes that life quality should be at the center of all things that we create: with our #jewelryforlife campaign, we raise awareness about the impact of violence, trauma, and conflict on the lives of people across the world. Because most Lapis Lazuli comes from Afghanistan, we are focused on bringing the experience of Afghan women and children into the spotlight, including locally sourcing precious gemstones to support the communities in which they are produced.

POMA currently has a project aimed at extending mental health support and training in specific clinics to further educate and build the capacity of health care workers aiding patients in Afghanistan. Because of the on-going conflict there, accessing mental health support is dangerous and families are isolated from professionals who can help with trauma. ATOLL believes that children and women should be given free and open access to psychological support to deal with trauma. ATOLL and POMA believe that psychological health is key to life quality. We believe that funding interventions to support women, children and other vulnerable people can make the world a safer place for everyone.

Our collaboration on the #jewelryforlife campaign represents a fusion of values that contributes to the life quality of many.
